Slow Down Aging With Strength Training

October 11, 2022 by Reuel Payne

[Updated May 2024]

People have always been searching for ways to live longer and stay young. And while there’s no such thing as ‘anti-aging’ or magic potion that can stop us from getting older, science has found some ways to help us stay healthy for longer.

The Truth About Anti-Aging Products

We see a lot of products out there promising to make us look younger. But the reality is, no cream or pill can stop us from aging. However, some recent discoveries might be able to slow it down a bit.

Strength Training: Your Best Friend for Staying Young

One of the best things you can do for your body as you get older is strength training. It won’t stop you from getting older, but it can make the journey a bit easier. Regular strength training can make your bones stronger, improve your muscle tone, and even make your skin look better. All of these things can help you enjoy life more as you age.

The Recipe for Aging Well

While strength training is a big part of staying healthy as you age, it’s not the only thing. Eating the right foods and taking the right supplements can also help. But remember, supplements aren’t a magic cure. They’re just one piece of the puzzle, along with regular exercise and a healthy diet.

Time-Tested Exercises for a Healthy Life

Fitness trends come and go, but the benefits of strength training are here to stay. In my article, ‘What exercises should I do when I join a gym?’, I talk about exercises that have proven benefits and can help you stay healthy for life.

Learning from the Best

I often like to reference from the late Leroy Colbert.  He knew, from his decades of experience, what he was talking about when it came to health and  fitness. He believed in the power of strength training and encouraged people to stick with it for a quality, healthy life.

Starting Your Journey to a Healthier Life

If you want to live a long, healthy life, consider making strength training a part of your routine. Just make sure to check with your doctor before you start any new exercise program. Once you get the green light, you can start using strength training to improve your health and quality of life.

Takeaway

While it might be tempting to try every new anti-aging product that comes out, it’s important to remember that true health comes from a combination of healthy habits. Some recent research suggests that certain chemicals, like nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN), might be able to slow down the aging process. But these are not a replacement for the proven benefits of strength training and a balanced lifestyle.
