The Unspoken Advantage: Why Experience Matters in Fitness

August 3, 2022 by Reuel Payne

Mixing hands‑on gym experience with science‑based fitness training is a game‑changer. At the gym, you’ll hear plenty of people talking about the “best” workouts or supplements. Nothing wrong with having opinions, but if those ideas aren’t backed by both real practice and proven facts, they can lead you astray. When you combine what actually works in the gym with what research shows, you end up making smarter choices that give real results.

At the gym, you’ll hear all kinds of advice flying around. It can feel like everyone thinks they’re a pro, but that’s not always the case. That’s why it’s smart to double‑check what you’re told, whether it’s about workouts, supplements, or even general health tips. Over the years, I’ve seen that even people with plenty of gym time under their belt can still pass along the wrong information.

I always make it clear that my advice comes from both real‑life gym experience and science‑based fitness training. Reading up on fitness is good, but until you actually put it into practice, you don’t really get the full picture. In my “about me” post, I shared how passionate I am about this lifestyle and how I want to keep passing on what I’ve learned along the way.

My guidance comes from over 25 years of weight training and using supplements, backed by research. But don’t just take my word for it, my blog covers plenty of topics like supplements, how to prevent or even reverse type 2 diabetes, slowing down aging with strength training, and the risks of anabolic steroids.

I always tell people to check my advice against solid scientific evidence. After nearly 30 years of training, I can honestly say that strength workouts, combined with the right supplements, have been the backbone of my health.

I also remind everyone to do their own homework. Don’t just take what I or anyone else says at face value, make sure the info you’re following about workouts or supplements is legit. That way, you’ll be making smart choices that fit your own needs.

As Leroy Colbert once said: “There’s nothing, absolutely nothing that can take the place of experience. I’m not putting out this information to entertain, but to inform.”
